Economic data releases are front and center this week.  The economic calendar in the U.S. includes personal income and spending data today, the ADP employment report and ISM manufacturing reports on Wednesday, and non-farm payrolls and ISM non-manufacturing on Friday.  Friday’s jobs report will be the most closely watched as usual.

In Europe, it is a busy week as well.  European jobs data is tomorrow, led by Germany (which also has retail sales).  European manufacturing PMI’s are released on Wednesday.  The ECB releases its monthly statement on Thursday, followed by yet another Mario Draghi press conference.  European services PMI data will be out on Friday.

In China, the focus will be on the handling of the protests in Hong Kong, which spread quickly over the weekend.  The tension led to a nearly 2% drop for the Hang Seng index today.

Finally, in Japan, retail sales and industrial production are released tonight, the Tankan indices are released on Tuesday night, and Japan’s services PMI will be released on Thursday night.  The Nikkei hit a 5 year high last week.
