The Week Ahead: $AAPL, $CPB, $PANW, $ULTA

After last week’s busy economic data calendar, this week’s schedule is very light by comparison.  However, even with the flurry of releases last week, the realized volatility in the U.S. indices was minimal.  The S&P 500 index 10 day realized volatility remains very low, at around 4:

It can’t get much quieter from a volatility perspective.

The only major data release in the U.S. this week is retail sales on Friday.  In Europe, industrial production and CPI data will be released in many countries in the middle of the week.  Japanese industrial production data is on Friday.

The main event in the U.S. this week is not in macro-land.  It is the AAPL iPhone 6 and possible iWatch launch, scheduled for 1 pm EDT on Tuesday.  Dan wrote extensively last week about AAPL expectations and options market activity ahead of the event – see our Name That Trade post, the options activity post, and Friday’s final post on AAPL’s fundamentals and valuation.
