Second quarter earnings season begins in earnest this week. Financials and technology stocks make up the bulk of the large cap reports. The full earnings calendar is below.
Outside of the quarterly reports, central bank heads are talking this week. Janet Yellen’s appearances before the Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday and the House Financial Services Committee on Wednesday are probably the most important macro events of the week. Mario Drag speaks this afternoon in front of the European parliament. The Bank of Japan monetary policy statement will be released tonight as well.
In terms of macroeconomic data, retail sales will be released on Tuesday, PPI, industrial production, and the Beige Book are released on Wednesday, Housing Starts and the Philly Fed Outlook are on Thursday, and the UMich Confidence Survey is on Friday. Outside of the U.S., Chinese retail sales, industrial production and GDP will be released on Tuesday night.
